Disappointing beauty products

I like to keep things on the more positive side of things here but recently I seem to have been disappointed by quite a lot of purchases. I’ve given all of these a good few months trial but I just can’t get on with them, maybe my exceptions are too high, who knows.

Disappointing make up and beauty products

We have two mascaras which aren’t cutting it, one high end one high street. I love the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara so when I saw the new Lash Sensational Luscious Mascara I hoped it would be better than its big sister. I don’t know what it is with this mascara but it just clumps all my lashes together. The product itself is very wet but its possibly the blackest black ever. I think it might be the brush, apparently it has a little reservoir that holds the formula, it just seems to put too much product on all at once. Massive thumbs down.

The second mascara is Charlotte Tilbury’s Full Fat Lashes mascara which is pricey at £22.00. It promises to deliver curl, separation, length, the full works. Well, I can say this does absolutely nothing. I curl my lashes and put this mascara on and the go straight, they don’t look fuller, longer or curled they look like shit. Please don’t waste your money.

Moving on to lip products; I had high hopes for the Freedom Pro Melts in Applause the colour is stunning, a shocking pink but I just can’t get on with the formulation. It some how manages to highlight any dry patches while being super sticky and messy. If you rub your lips together you are then left with an odd patchy coverage which looks so strange. The second is a sister brand of Freedom, I heart makeup with their lip sorbet. The product itself, I cant argue with but just look at it! I used it once and it completely fell apart onto the floor. Yes, it was only about £3 but that is beside the point, I should have paid more and picked up one from EOS or Balmi. Maybe I just got a bad one?

make up not worth buying

Last on my list is the Air Mat Foundation from Bourjois. First of all don’t get me started on the shade range, this is a massive bug bear with this brand and there is no excuse to have such limited shades in 2016. I picked up shade 2 Vanilla, which is the closest shade to the shade I am in their other foundations, or so I thought. This has got to be the yellowest foundation ever, I am talking Marge Simpson yellow. It claims to be high coverage, it isn’t, its medium at best. It clings to any dry patches and gives a flat matte finishe. It claims to last 24 hours and that it eliminates shine, if you are oily expect this to last about 6 hours at it’s very best. It also has such a strong perfume scent. Sorry Bourjois, its a no from me. I’ll stick to Revlon Colour Stay for a real full coverage, long lasting high street foundation.

So this has been a bit a rant from me butt I have been brutally honest. I can safely say that these are now going in the bin.

What products do you regret buying recently? Have you tried any of the products above and loved them? I’d love to hear from you if you have.

My new favourite lip product

I love a good lip product – from balms, stains to a good old lipstick I’m hooked on them all. They instantly make me feel better and I love how they can change your look in one quickly easy application.
I recently picked up the new lip product
by L’oreal called L’Extraordinaire liquid lipstick in shade
101 rose melody. I decided on this beautiful nude as I wanted something that I could wear everyday but the range includes a good selection of brighter more stand out shades also.

L’oreal say this product contacts micro-oils infused with pigment to give the colour intensity of a lipstick, the shine of a gloss and the softness of a balm. I was slightly worried that this texture would be an oil slick on my lips but somehow it is a beautiful luxurious balmy glossy texture that I’ve never come across in any other product. The colour intensity is great and I find that the applicator gives the right amount of product in one go. As this has more of a gloss texture rather than a lipstick the longevity isn’t quite as much as a lipstick but it by far holds up better than a normal gloss.

I also love the small gold tube L’oreal have packaged the liquid lipstick in – it’s feels a little bit more glamorous than my normal lipgloss of choice.
So far I’ve been reaching for this one on a daily basis as it’s super easy application and great colour makes it a no brainer all I need to do now is decide on what other shades I need for my collection from this fab range, Boots here I come!!

Have you tried this fab lip product out? What did you think – I’d love to know!

The lipstick tag!

My lipstick tag contribution is here! I was tagged by my gorgeous friend Gemma over at McCarthys Beauty Review

How many lipsticks do you own?
18 lipsticks, 33 lip glosses, 8 lip balms and 15 lip liners

What was your first ever lipstick?
It was by Rimmel but for the life of me can’t remember the shade but it was a baby pink colour with a pearlescent sheen to it and it really didn’t suit me at all!

What is your most worn lipstick?
L’oreal colour Riche in Julianne’s nude. I simply love this lipstick for everyday it’s a lovely creamy texture and a gorgeous rose nude.
After that then it’s my beloved Ellis Faas In Ellis Red which is super long lasting and the most beautiful blood red.

Favourite lipstick brand?
I love MUA for their range of colours at such a good price point in particular the matte lipsticks and the Luxe velvet ones. Also you can never go wrong with Estée Lauder in my book!

Favourite finish?
Matte finish is doing it for me currently but then again I love a sheer wash of colour in a lipgloss form.

Last lip product bought?
Kardashian Beauty Au Naturel lip kits both in Kim and Kourtney. I’m not massive fan of things like celeb perfumes and make up brands but I received the Khloe one for Christmas and fell in love. It comes with liner, lipstick and gloss in a kit and the staying power I find is fantastic and the smell of the gloss is a scrummy honey.

How many lipsticks are currently in your handbag inc balms?
I’ve just cleared my handbag out so it’s only two at the moment. An elf lip balm in a red and DuWop lip venom in a berry shade.

What lipstick do you use to rock a red lip?
My Ellis Faas, Ellis red or I do love the deep red b095 by Make Up Atelier.

How do you store your lipsticks?
I’ve just bought some acrylic storage and got rid of my grey rattan draws so currently it’s all out on display on my dressing table.

What lip product are you currently lusting after?
Currently I love the look of the Poise Balm by Benefit. I’ve been gagging for a bit of MAC Heroine but just can’t seem to call in when they have stock and I’m loving the look of NYX matte lipstick in Shocking Pink.

So that’s it for my lipstick tag – I now tag Kal over at Cuttered Closet
