As you probably saw me tweeting the other day I was very excited to be going to the Illamasqua bloggers event at Meadowhall, Sheffield. I went with my friend Gemma from McCarthy’s Beauty Review. We decided to get there a couple of hours before the event so we could do a spot of shopping and have some dinner. The event was the first I’ve ever attended so I was a little nervous and didn’t really know what to expect but I’d really didn’t need to worry as everyone was lovely!
Sarah and Farys took us down to a room within Debenhams where some gorgeous cupcakes and bubbly was laid out along side some beautiful gift bags and lots of Illamasqua goodies for us to have a play with. Farys did an amazing full make up tutorial giving us some fab hints and tips along the way and Sarah filled us in with lots useful product information and alternative uses for some of the products. The final look was a stunning dark smoky Autumnal look.
In the gift bags was four AMAZING Illamasqua Nail Varnish’s and a tube of Matte veil (this is a product I’ve wanted to try for SO long so I cannot wait to try it out)
After the make up masterclass we popped back upstairs to browse the counter and purchase any products we might fancy. I literally could have bought two of everything but I had to resist the urge! I picked up the Skin Base foundation which Sarah matched me to SB 6.5 which is a perfect match and after using the foundation for the first time yesterday I am literally in love. Its like nothing I’ve ever tried before and its my new favourtie foundation. I also bought the cream pigment in Emerge which Sarah recommend to help disguise my very dark circles/eyes and I must say after using it for the past two days it really does help brighten the old panda eyes.
So before the main event Gemma and I hit the shops. First stop for us was Boots (Would be rude not to right?)
In Boots I picked up two L’oreal L’Extraordinaire liquid lipstick. I feel in love with these little gold beauties back when I reviewed one here. I picked up 601 Nude Ballet (This is the shade that Mario used on Kim K for her lip colour for her wedding reception to Kanye West) and 401 Fuschia Drama.
I picked two eyeshadows also by L’oreal which are from the Colour Riche L’ombre pure collection. The gold one is 500 Gold Mama and the other is 600 Opalescent.
My other Boots purchase was the Botanics All Bright Cleansing Toner. I bought this as after reading Gemma’s thoughts on it in her skincare post I really wanted to try it!
After Boots we stopped by The Body Shop which is one of my personal faves, I needed to re-purchase the Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter that I love so much as it quickly and easily melts away make up in a flash and smells divine. I also picked up the Body Sorbet in Mango and a body butter in the same scent. I’ve used the body sorbet twice now and I just love it, it sinks into the skin quickly and is fantastic for a quick hit of moisture. I also popped in my basket the Aloe Soothing gel as I’ve had slightly red and sore areas around my nose so I’m hoping it will help with that. My last and probably most anticipated purchase was the Vitamin E aqua boost sorbet. I’ve been looking at this since it was announced but I can’t use it yet as I’m currently testing out another skincare regime.
My Lush buy was the Catastrophe cosmetic face mask. I loved the smell of it and sometimes my skin can be very naughty especially when my hormones start to play up so I bought this for when that time arrives. You might have seen me tweet/instagram about my mini fridge. I am so pleased with myself that I thought of this, I’ve this mini fridge for ages and its been gathering dust so I decided to plug it in and put it under my dressing table so all my goodies that need or can be chilled are
not a long walk down the stairs as I’m really lazy to hand. It just the right size to fit a few bits in and I’m loving having everything under my nose.
Last port of call was Topshop. I’d never even looked at any Topshop make up so I was really surprised by the range and quality of products on offer. I picked up three things these were a powder highlighter in Sunbeam. A metallic cream blush in Pulse, I’m not sure how much use I will get out of this but it looked so pretty I couldn’t resist. And the last purchase was a cream highlighter called Glow. I’m really annoyed about this one though, both Gemma and I purchased one each both of which was sealed but on opening them some dirty person had already had their fingers in the pot and resealed them! So it will be going in the bin as it makes me feel sick at how unhygienic that is. In normal circumstances I would take it back and ask for a refund but its not worth doing the 20 mile round trip so a lesson has been learnt there next time I will open the product to check.
It was such a fantastic night and I cannot tell you how much we laughed! I spent so much money though and I’m now on a mini spending ban until its the Northern Blogger Meet in Sheffield.
Sorry this post is so long but I wanted to share with you the great time we had and all my purchases.
Thanks for reading!
