Create a look: 1980’s

I can’t quite believe its March already and that Gemma and I have whizzed through the decades to land in the eighties. For me the 1980’s music holds some great memories from my Dad playing 80’s power ballads when I was growing up and some crazzzzzy nights out with Gemma dancing round our handbags and getting far to drunk on Purple Rains ( one shot of blue and one shot of red after shock) in Reflex.
Anyways enough of me reminiscing and onto the make up. Anyone who is acutely aware of the 1980s will know that when it came to the make up anything and everything goes…..even the men had in on it. It was many times awful, bright neon and over the top but this is exactly what I love about it. No one lived by “a little goes a long way” in this decade.
For my look I decided to go with something inspired by the 80’s super-bitch Alexis Carrington Colby from Dynasty. I LOVE Joan Collins and she really was the original resting bitch face queen when she was playing Alexis. (If you are too young to know what I’m on about look HERE)
So I went with lots of purple satin, shimmer eyeshadow, visible lipliner and far too much blusher. I actually liked the eye make up but my lips look like I’ve had a bad lip job done as the liner seems to make them look over inflated and don’t even get me started on the blush!!

Here is a run down of what I used to create this 80’s inspired look,
Make up Revolution ultra face base primer
Illamasqua cream pigment in Emerge
Revlon colorstay foundation in Sand Beige
Estee Lauder Pure Color blush in Peach Passion and Medium
MUA Pretty Edgy Palette – shades bow, tallie, flounce, lace and wrath
Make Up Atelier Gel Eyeliner in Noir
Essence Kajal pencil in White
L’oreal False lash flutter mascara in midnight black
Anastasia Beverley Hills Dipbrow pomade in Medium Brown
Chella ivory lace highlight pencil
Avon Lip liner in Deep Plum
Elf mineral lip liner in Rose
L’oreal Colour Riche lipstick in Julianne’s Nude
L’oreal liquid lipstick in 101 Rose Melody.

I didn’t buy anything for my looks this time around as I’m on a spending ban (Booooo) so I had to make do with what already own.

Don’t forget to head over and see Gemma’s 80’s inspired look.

Tune in next time when we will be in 90’s……probably the most referenced decade last year!

Thanks for reading
