Happy New Year!!
So this is my first post back after my Christmas/New Year blogging break! You will probably remember Gemma and I are working our way through the decades and currently we are stuck in the 60’s (cue all the “Yeah, baby Yeah” jokes)
Just a bit of a disclaimer I’m no make up artist and I know I am know near some the AMAZING talent that’s out there…..this is just simply for fun that gives me the chance to play around with make up and its a good excuse to stick lots of products on my face!!
The sixties make up looks was anything from natural hippy-ish to full on over the top looks with LOTS of pastels, black and white. For me the stand out faces of the day was the black and white drawn on crease look such a Twiggy and Edie Sedgwick. Lips tended to be more subtle to keep the focus on the eyes.
Here is my look
For my look I used the Bourjois 123 foundation in number 52 then set this with Rimmel Stay Matte powder in Translucent. For my cheeks I went with a flush of pink using the ELF Studio blush in passion pink. On my lips I used a lipstick from Estee Lauder called Pink Parfait with Elf Hypershine lipgloss on top in Fairy.
On my eyes I wanted to try to recreate a 60s black and white eye – I used MAC Vanila with the lightest shade from the Make Up revolution Go To Heaven palette and the black shade also for the crease and liner. My mascara is L’oreal Flash Lash Flutter – I did want to use false lashes but I’d not got any to hand.
Overall for my first attempt at this look I like where it is going however I’m not happy with the finished look but I think if I kept trying and trying I could nail it. Its just the angle that it finishes at and that it is so difficult to get both sides symmetrical and perfect. However I am just merely an over enthusiastic amateur so I can forgive myself a litte…..I just want to be invited to a 60s themed party now!!
Please don’t forget to stop by Gemma’s blog and see how shes got on in the swinging sixties (you can’t mentions the sixties without using the word swinging can you?)
