Makeup Revolution Fortune Favours The Brave review

Fortune favours the brave

I’ve wanted this palette for a while now even though I have 3560 others. When Jane AKA British Beauty Blogger teams up with a brand you know she’s put her heart and soul into making it the best she can. The main reason why I was drawn to this palette is the fact it’s a little different to a lot of the other options out there are the moment, I mean who needs another all nude palette?

I love that the packaging is gold rather than Makeup Revolution’s usual choice of black, I love that there are baked, shimmer and mattes all in one and that there are endless looks you could create. I think it also it appeals to everyone, regardless of age. Now I am not going to lie the brush you get with it is crap, they always are, but it does have a lovely big, clear mirror which is always a bonus!

As always, Makeup Revolution and Jane have managed to pull it off when it comes to formula. The baked shadows are my favourite and really do deliver with the pay off. The shades are easy to blend and for a high street option the fall out is pretty good. There are a couple of the lighter shades which you do have to work a little bit harder with to get a really good pay off but to be honest for £9.99 that is forgiven.

I’ve swatched a couple of the shades below just to give you an idea, that baked navy is stunning!

I love the fact that with this one palette you can create looks that range from barley there, golden goddess to dark, heavy and smoky. It really covers all the bases. As soon as I got it I decided to have a playaround and create a pink/purple, shimmer sort of look which I really liked. It lasted really well throughout the day too. I used Creme, Pink Diamond, Drama Queen and New World. (Excuse the eyebrows, I am well over due a good old wax!)

For under a tenner this is an absolute bargain and I wish I had purchased it sooner.

Makeup Revolution and Freedom Makeup, as you may know are sort of sister brands and they have just launched a new website where you can order both brands so no more having to split order or pay for two lots of shipping! AMAZING! You can find Fortune Favours The Brave HERE or you can find it at Superdrug.

I really hope you’ve enjoyed reading this post and I’d love to hear from you if you’ve already got this palette or if your thinking of buying it.

Guest Blogger Series part 3: Molly from The Rose Beauty Files

Hi Everyone! I’m Molly from The Rose Beauty Files (Link www.therosebeautyfiles.com) and I’m so excited to be over here on Claire’s lovely blog writing a guest post! If you have never read my blog before, you won’t be aware of my slight obsession with all things Clarins! I love pretty much everything about the brand from the packaging, to the products and I thought I would share 5 of my favourite products with you today. I wouldn’t say these are my top five necessarily as I would find it very difficult to rank them, as I love pretty much everything I have tried!

clarins favourites

• First up are the Clarins Instant Lip Balms. These are a relatively new product in their range and I would describe them as Photoshop for your lips! They are balms in stick form that have a subtle hint of colour and a gorgeous sweet scent. I have the colour 01 Rose which is pictured and it gives a gorgeous and glossy ‘my lips but better’ appearance. There are 6 colours in total: 01 Rose; 02 Coral; 03 My Pink which is a really clever formula as the shade of pink is dependent on each person so it will look slightly different on everyone; 04 Orange; 05 Red which I am desperate to get my hands on and 06 Rosewood which is a dark browny red which is probably the only shade I wouldn’t fancy. They are so creamy and are perfect for popping on in the daytime! If you are not keen on the stick formulation they do make a similar product in a squeezy tube, which is more like a lip-gloss. This has the same effect on the lips and I believe the colour selection is the same too.

• Next is one of my favourite ever moisturisers, the Hydraquench cream! I have had pretty much every product from the Hydraquench range at some point along the lines and I love them all! This moisturiser is perfect for very dry and dehydrated skin as it is so thick and luxurious! I tend to use this in the winter when my skin is at its most dry, I have also used the lighter lotion formula throughout the summer when my skin still needs hydration but slightly less than in the winter. It has a subtle scent that feels very high-end and is not overpowering or off putting. It is a little on the pricy side but I do feel like it is worth it as a little goes a very long way!

• I couldn’t do a Clarins post without mentioning the cult favourite, the Beauty Flash Balm. This is a fantastic multipurpose product that can be used as both a facemask and a primer before makeup. To use as a facemask, spread a thick layer all over the face without rubbing in. Leave it on for 10 minutes and wash off to reveal ‘brighter & tighter’ skin. My skin just looks baby soft and smooth when I have used this and recently it has been all I have been reaching for! As a primer, you need to spread a thin layer across the face, again without rubbing in, and apply makeup straight on top of it. It makes your makeup look glowing and you skin feels very hydrated and foundation doesn’t look cakey! It really is a wonder product in a tube!

• To keep this post nice and varied I wanted to mention the Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster. This product allows you to customize the level of facial tan you have with very minimal effort. This product is very small; you only get 15ml in a full sized bottle. The idea behind this is that you take your favourite facial mosituriser and add a couple of drops of this product before you apply the moisturiser to your face at night. The great thing about this is that you know the moisturiser element will be suitable for your skin type as you can use whichever one you like the best. I had great results from the tanning drops over night but I do have a very ghostly white face! I have found this product incredibly easy to use and I have hardly made a dent in the product after having it for over a year! The only thing I would say is that you do need to wash your hands after using it as I didn’t one time and ended up with a tan-coloured finger nail for a very long time afterwards!

• The final product I wanted to talk about is something a lot of you have probably heard of as it has take the blogging world by a bit of a storm! It’s the Clarins Instant Concealer! This has turned into my Holy Grail concealer! It is so creamy and pigmented yet doesn’t look cakey or unnatural. I use this both under my eyes and on blemishes and it works like a dream! The coverage is great, my mum has actually just purchased a tube of this too, to cover up the occasional cold sore. The only thing I would say about this is that the shade range is appalling! There are only three shades; I am the lightest so if you are incredibly fair then I feel like this could be too dark for you. My mum has just had one week abroad and she is the darkest so I feel like if you had a naturally olive skin tone or are a lady with darker skin, then this product will not be for you as you just won’t be able to find a shade match. I think this is such a shame as the product is incredible and Clarins definitely need to offer more shades to make it available to more of us! The product is £21 but you get 15ml of product and as you only use a tiny amount each time, this lasts a very long time. This is the most blendable concealer I have ever used, even better than the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in my opinion!

I hope you have enjoyed reading this post and I would love it if you would stop by my blog and say hello! I post daily so there’s always something to read. Thank you again to Claire for having me and I look forward to hearing your thoughts on my post. Let me know if you have tried any of these products too and what you think of them!

Much Love

Molly

Guest Blogger Series Part 2: Siobhan – A Handful of Sparkle

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish – A Review by Siobhan from A Handful of Sparkle.

unnamed

Hi guys! How are you all doing? And how is your week going so far? Well this is something very exciting for me, and when the opportunity arose, I obviously jumped at the chance to be a guest blogger here on Claire’s amazing blog.

No doubt, you will have heard a million and one different bloggers talking about this product, and I know I am very late to the game with my review of the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish. But, I do have a very good reason!! I have incredibly sensitive skin, so much so that, 2 weeks ago, my sister suggested using my regular moisturiser to hydrate my skin more, by letting the product sink in on its own, rather than massaging it in. And guess what? My skin couldn’t cope with the product and had a massive reaction. It turned bright red, it felt like my face was literally on fire, and it was stinging! All this from a product I had used before. This was why I didn’t want to risk spending £15.50 for the starter kit (100ml pump & 2 muslin cloths) to have a reaction to the product.

So when I saw on twitter a couple of weeks ago, that for a 24 hour period on the Liz Earle website they were selling the starter kit for £9.50 (the original 1995 price, to celebrate their 20th anniversary) I figured it was about time I gave it a try.

OH MY GOODNESS. I am so glad I bought this. It is amazing. It certainly lived up to all the hype and I will definitely be repurchasing when I’ve finished this bottle! The packaging is very plain and basic, but still looks super high end, while still being middle of the market in terms of pricing.

I have been using this morning and night since I initially bought it, and the difference in my skin is incredible. I have been struggling with dry skin in my t-zone for quite some time, but this cleanser has completely sorted that out. There have been days where I literally have come home from work late, had no energy whatsoever, removed my make up with this and gone straight to bed. The next day? My skin is no worse off for not using moisturiser.

The product itself has a wonderfully thick/clay mask like consistency when you pump it out onto your hand, but then as you massage this into your skin, the consistency changes and it is lovely and creamy. The muslin cloth that you have left soaking in warm water, then gently exfoliates your skin while breaking down any trace of make-up and removing this effortlessly. Your skin feels super moisturised without having an oily residue and because of this, the product is suitable for all skin types. As I mentioned earlier, I have super sensitive skin, and the other thing I was worried about with this, was the scent, as sometimes scented products irritate my skin too. While this product is scented, it is only a very light, natural scent, so doesn’t have any negative impact on my skin.

All in all, the Cleanse & Polish is amazing and I would highly recommend this to anyone, regardless of skin type! Does anyone use any Liz Earle products at the moment that I am missing out on?? Let me know in the comments!

Thanks for reading guys – and thank you Claire for having me!

Create a look: 1990’s

We are halfway through the month so that means its time for another create a look post that Gemma and I have been teaming up to do. This month we are at our final stop – the 90’s.

Recently the 1990’s have been referenced massively mainly thanks to Kyle Jenner and her lips! For my look I loosely based it on Drew Barrymore who I have had a massive lady crush on since seeing her in Scream. Shes cute, kooky, quirky but not afraid to speak her mind……she basically rocks!

I went with brown tones for both my eyes and lips with lashing of black around both the upper and lower lash lines.

Here is a full run down of what I used in this months look –
Base
Illamasqua cream pigment in Emerge
Max Factor Lasting performance foundation in 105 Soft beige
Maybelline Matte Maker pressed powder in 20 Nude Beige
L’oreal color riche lipstick in 364 (used as a blush)
Eyes
Urban Decay Naked 2 – shades Foxy, Tease and Snakebite
Avon Super Shock Gel eyeliner pencil in Black
Lancome Artliner
Elf Brow kit – Dark
Boujois 1 Seconde mascara
Lips
MUA eyebrow pencil in brown (used as a liner)
Gerard Cosmetics lipstick – 1995
Bobbi Brown lip color – Party Alice

I quite like this look but is all a bit brown…I most certainly used elements from the 90’s in my day-to-day make up today.
